About This Project
"Legends of Lexington" Audio Tours of the Historic Districts of Lexington, Missouri, were researched, written and narrated by residents and friends of Lexington as part of the Lexington Community Arts Pilot Project, a three-way collaboration between the University of Missouri Extension, University of Missouri and the community of Lexington to promote community and economic development through the arts. Original music for the Downtown and Highland Ave. tours was composed by Justin Pounds, University of Missouri composer. Sound engineering is by William J. Lackey, Assistant Teaching Professor of Composition at the University of Missouri-Columbia and Managing Director of the Mizzou New Music Initiative.
Dedication
This project is dedicated, in loving memory, to Roger Slusher (1947-2013). Roger was a lifelong Lexington resident and considered Lexington's Historian. He taught history at Wentworth Military Academy and directed the Lexington Historical Museum and the Santa Fe Trail Association. With his wife Sandra, Roger contributed invaluable resources and guidance to this project.
